Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are motivated to use technology even when they do not have any. In my classroom we complete many hands on activities and reading, but lack the resources to always have multiple students using computers.

My students are English language learners who come from homes with very low income.

Many of my students are the only ones in their family who speak English. My school strives to help them overcome their language and educational challenges in any way that we can. They are motivated but many do not have a computer at home. It is difficult to prepare them for life as a middle school student when they are not able to use resources available to them.

My Project

The material I am requesting is a new Mac Book Pro Air laptop. This will allow them to learn how to type and complete basic word processing skills. It is also updated so my students will be able to access to resources that are free on the web. On these websites, they can practice math fluency, improve their vocabulary and have access to books that I do not have in my classroom.

Donations to this project will help my students use updated technology that will give them access to the tools that they need to be successful in school.

The country is pushing the educational bar higher, but not giving city schools the resources to do so. The state tests will soon be given on the computer. If students are not given practice on computers at a young age, my students will be faulted not for what they do not know, but for not being able to use a computer efficiently.
