Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Working in a low income, high poverty community, Title 1 school, I am aware my students need the proper technology and supplies to succeed. My students work to the best of their ability, and it's amazing to see how much they have accomplished so far. My students live in what was the epicenter of the coronavirus in NYC. They live in Corona, Queens, where the majority of families are Hispanic. They have had an extremely hard year and returning to school may seem a little scary for them. To ease their fears, classrooms have to meet CDC guidelines to ensure that staff and students are safe. Because my students struggle financially, some families with two, three or more children are sharing one device, one cellphone, one notebook, and one crayon box. That is no way for students to learn. My students deserve the absolute best, no matter the barrier they face.

In my classroom, I strive to meet each child's unique individual needs.

My Project

My project contains an iPad Air with a connecting keyboard! This will help my third grade students with blended learning! It will assist with completing assignments in the classroom, as well as connecting to Google Classroom and our Google Meets!

Along with the iPad, I am asking for some phonics and math games.

These will assist in learning and mastering the third grade math and ELA standards. Students will engage in socially distanced, small groups in order to engage in these games.

Combining technology with hands on materials will help give our students the tools they need to succeed!
