My Students

My students are from a lower socio-economic area that is 100% free lunch. My class specifically is composed of some English language learners who are making great gains in developing their vocabulary and their reading and writing. They are excited about all our different subjects and love to learn!

I would like to provide my class an enriching distance learning experience next year, as we are starting online at least in the beginning.

My Project

These materials are necessary to make distance learning an enriching and equitable learning experience for my students. Using these technology devices is already standard in high income school districts but are not provided for lower income districts. I want to give my students an equitable experience and amazing virtual classroom experience. While we may not be together in the classroom, these tools can help replicate that classroom experience. They can be applied to all learning subjects, and I can use these tools to provide my daily lessons in whole group and small group settings, one on one tutoring, and for parent conferences. For example, these tools can be used for students to watch me teach math or science while also participating during Zoom or Google Classroom. They need to see me show them how to do a division problem so they themselves can learn. Students need to see tangible examples, even more so during distance learning, and these tools will allow me the ability to give them concrete examples for all lessons. For example, I can use the ring light and projector during our whole class and virtual lessons in math and reading. If I was doing a literature lesson on cause and effect, students will be able to watch me fill out a graphic organizer with me on the projector and see clearly.
