Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are diverse, eager to learn and have active minds. For most of them this is their first learning in a school setting. Many of them come to school lacking the necessary supplies and often are not exposed to different learning materials outside of the classroom. They love to engage in hands-on activities where they get to show off their skills. The majority of my students come from low income homes and live in shelters, section 8 housing and in public housing. The majority of the students are English Language Learners, and many have Individualized Educational Plans. They all receive free breakfast, lunch and snack. They face many challenges in their daily life, but come to school eager to learn. They try their best to attempt tasks even when it is challenging. We have a strong sense of community, and we exhibit empathy for each other.

My Project

My students will be able to use the computer in school to read books, listen and watch read alouds, learn phonics, learn numbers and numbers games.

They can begin to learn coding and keyboarding.

They can use different apps to record themselves, to draw and for those who have difficulty in fine motor to write. It will allow my students to visually see and explore the world around them. Technology for my students will give them the opportunities they would not have otherwise and it would enable me to conduct remote learning when needed.
