Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This group of first graders is much different then any I’ve ever had! The students are all from low income households and many of them suffer from poverty. For a lot of them, their favorite part of the day is coming to school. We start every morning with each of them picking a greeting and most of them choose a hug. Even the boys 😊. They love to use the computer programs but technology in our school is always an issue. I would love for them to be able to experience working technology in order for them to be able to work on programs that support their specific reading and math levels. I love that my students love to use the computers but I wish they could do it without constant interruptions of something not working properly.

My Project

Having new technology for my students would make a world of difference. These Chromebooks would be used by the students for them to work on the reading and math programs we use within the classroom on a daily basis. The reading program is Lexia and math is Dreambox. Both of these programs are designed specifically for each student. The programs we use are a requirement within the school and each student needs to use them everyday in order to help them improve in reading and math. The more the students use the program, the quicker they will reach their goals.
