My Students

Our students are in a world of technology. Using e-books will create a desire to continue to read while experiencing the ease of using technology to do so.

We live close to a large city but have a rural feel about our community.

Our students have many opportunities for hiking, biking, skiing and other outdoor activities. Our school has a diverse socioeconomic population. I plan to use the technology to level the experiences that students have.

My Project

I am requesting six e-readers to use in our classroom with a small group guided instruction reading group. I feel that motivating students to read through the use of this technology will be a benefit to their progress. Some of my students feel overwhelmed at reading an entire book but with an e-reader they will be able to take it one page at a time. Hopefully creating a desire to read independently.

All of the students will have an opportunity to read with the e-readers through out the year but I hope to catch my less eager readers to try and read an entire book!

It would be a success if through using technology I could create life long readers.
