My Students

Do you remember how proud you were when you first learned how to write, cut out a project, or tie your own shoes? For my kids, these tasks can seem incredibly difficult. Occupational Therapy helps them build the foundations they need to master these skills in order for them to succeed in school.

I provide support to students with disabilities to perform their best in their academic environments, meaning anything from the classroom to the cafeteria or recess!

Many of my students have Autism, learning disabilities, or other developmental delays that make learning in a typical classroom difficult. Our school has both integrated NEST program classrooms as well as gifted and talented classrooms and general education classrooms.

My Project

The 2020/2021 school year is shaping up to be one for the books. While I will be providing some in-person therapy sessions to students, the majority of my workload will be continuing to serve my students remotely through teletherapy.

As I reflected on how my teletherapy sessions could be improved from this past spring, I realized that I could best serve my students with better technology such as an iPad and a document camera.

An iPad will allow for me to use therapeutic apps while screen sharing during sessions and a document camera will allow for me to demonstrate different skills to the students in a more effective manner.
