Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In my classroom, all students are capable of learning. As a Resource Specialist Teacher, I work with students with disabilities. My students are faced with many obstacles that make it difficult for them to be successful. In addition to their disabilities, many of my students are from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Regardless of their challenges, they never give up and inspire me every day with their resiliency and determination to graduate high school. These students deserve the best teacher possible and I go to work every day excited to introduce 21st century learning into my classroom.

My Project

I am requesting a laptop in order to meet the needs of the students I service. My students require accommodations in order to be successful in a general education classroom. A laptop will allow me to create resources such as graphic organizers, charts and graphs to help them access the curriculum. I will be able to project visual aides to help my students process information. A laptop will also help me become more efficient in creating Individual Education Plans and documenting services for my students which will allow me to spend more time teaching.

Technology is such an important part of today's society and a laptop will help me to become a more effective teacher and create a classroom of digital learners.

In addition, I will use this laptop to enroll in Graduate level courses in Special Education. As a teacher, I am a lifelong learner and want to stay up to date on the latest research that will benefit my students. Also, a laptop will allow me to utilize the latest educational apps that will help me teach the curriculum more effectively. This one laptop will benefit my growth as an educator tremendously and I am excited to put into practice all this laptop allows me to learn.
