Technology for Students! Post-COVID Supplies

Help me give my students an Apple iPad. It is a good way to help provide that differentiated instruction to my special education students and it will provide instruction to students at home due to COVID-19.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Biology and Living Environment to a wonderful and creative group of boys and girls at a high school in New York. They are excited to learn and come to school each day. It is important to ensure that children enjoy learning. This is what school should be about. The school is located near NYCHA housing which makes up the majority of the student body. Students are considered low-income and need a lot of resources in order to make this school year complete! Teaching science to 9th and 10th graders will require me to utilize a variety of methods to keep students engaged and interested in learning, especially returning back from the pandemic.

Therefore, they need all the necessary materials that will make them successful, independent, and confident learners.

With your help, this can continue.

My Project

An Apple iPad is a good way to help provide that differentiated instruction to my special education and CTT students. I have to travel from classroom to classroom every day and an iPad will be a great way to show students, as I walk around the classroom, where they need to be, on task in Google Classroom. This iPad would also be available to students who don't have a computer to complete their work, or for students whose computers are dead because they did not charge it the night before. Due to Covid, all instruction/materials/work are online (in case of another pandemic) but students come to school in person and learn in person.

Due to Covid, with budget cuts and necessary materials not being replaced, it is impossible for the school to supply Apple iPads to the students.

But, it is critical that they receive necessary differentiated instruction that they deserve. Students need an alternative to complete school work in the classroom if they cannot afford a computer as well as a way to be exposed to important necessary science games and curriculum that the iPad applications can provide.
