This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom is like taking a journey through the world of electronics. My students are constantly engaged and challenged through a variety of instructional activities. Students take on the responsibility of becoming problem-solvers, innovators, and critical thinkers.

As I look at my students, I see our future leaders.

Students who have the potential to become doctors, lawyers, professional athletes, scientist, entrepreneurs, and more. My school has a culture that is embodied in the spirit of student success and achievement. Our diverse population of students brings forth a greater appreciation for learning. Red Elementary is a neighborhood jewel, serving as one of Houston's finest magnet schools for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Every day, our scholars are engaging in STEM-related activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Our mission here at Red Elementary is to prepare 21st-century learners to be productive citizens by providing a quality "world-class" education with an emphasis in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). We follow the vision of creating an atmosphere where excellence and student learning is the top priority.

My Project

The tablet will be used in my classroom for students to watch instructional videos, complete on-line assignments, conduct research, and collaborate with the peers and teachers for instructional purposes. Many of our students do not have access to digital devices in their homes, therefore, students will be able to check out the tablet in order to complete assignments in the comfort of their own homes. Students will build their math skills through a variety of apps and online programs such as Reasoning Minds, Brain Pop, Nearpod, Classkick, Khan Academy, and much more. In addition, students will be able to share will be able to share with their parents the content in which they learning in mathematics.

The donation of a classroom tablet will improve my classroom in many ways.

First, using technology caters to the learning styles of all students. Individuals who are auditory, kinesthetic, visual, and tactile learners will benefit from using the tablet. Also, completing assignments on the tablet causes for better collaboration and intervention with students who struggle with certain math concepts.
