This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help me provide a keyboard for my students' iPad in my speech therapy room. My students have special needs and use of pictures and symbols often allow for them to share their knowledge and ideas. My students are both nonverbal and verbal learners. iPad and education applications available offer predictability, presence of carrier phrases, and frequent practice of target sounds and speech movements for my students. My students have shown progression with the use of applications such as Boom Cards which offer a variety of activities related to common concepts and stories which will be more beneficial to them on a portable device like an iPad. We recently have been able to get an iPad for my students in speech. I purchased a case and protector with my own funds for my students' new device but would like for my students to have a keyboard to be able to add to their technology skills.

Getting a keyboard for our iPad will allow my students to work on typing skills and add to their ability to communicate and share ideas as developing verbal and nonverbal learners.

My students will benefit greatly from this accessory in being able to write requests or use speech and language applications with ease when answering open ended questions for example. Materials like these are costly and we would really appreciate help in being able to develop our technology and communication skills. Thank you for considering our project and helping us reach our goals!
