This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year my blended ICT dual language 1st grade class consists of 16 amazing students. Of these students 3 are students with disabilities and 10 are learning English as a new language. They are some of the most hard working and resilient students I have ever come across in my 18 years as an educator. As you know, this year has proven to be especially difficult for us all, but even more so for these youngsters. These students attend a Title I school, in a low income community and need all the help and resources available to them, especially during these difficult times.

My Project

These materials will enable me to make virtual learning and instruction as seamless as possible. I will be able to project my documents, books, and sample work using the document camera. This will allow the students access to classroom materials, such as phonics visuals used to make lessons interactive, and anchor charts that would normally be posted around the classroom for their use throughout all subject areas. It would also allow the students to see things in action such as proper letter formation, good reading habits while projecting books, and live writing instruction. The laptop will be used for our virtual classroom using Google and Zoom meetings with my class, which will help me engage my students and provide effective instruction. It will also be used to prepare teacher materials such as Power Point Presentations, student assessments, data recording, and communication with parents. The hard drive will help me to store student work for data and portfolio purposes. Together these materials will greatly impact the level of virtual education my students need not just to learn, but to have a successful school year.
