Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when students came to school excited to learn and intrigued by the lessons? It is often difficult to motivate students to want to learn. Teachers have to compete with phones, iPads, and tablets. Incorporating technology into the learning process would help inspire students.

My school is considered a high poverty school located in the inner city of Houston.

Ninety-six percent of the students who attend my school qualify for free or reduced lunches. For many of my pre-kindergarten students it's their first time away from their mother and fathers. They come to school with limited experiences and have had little opportunities to use technology. They want to learn about everything and interactive technology will help them to experience and learn about many aspects of our world in exciting ways.

My Project

Pre-kindergarten is all about early intervention and early exposure. With an iPad, Kindle and a laptop my students will be emerged in a world of technology. Students will able to have hands on experiences with technology. These hands on experiences will build strong foundations in technology for my students' futures. Having access to technology will allow my students to practice vital skills and eventually master the skills that they are struggling with. These essential technology tools in the classroom will allow students to improve in math, science, writing, reading, practice fine motor skills, and so much more. Being able to utilize a laptop, Kindle and an iPad will motivate my students to love to learn. The iPad, Kindle, and laptop will be used in our centers. This will help students develop important skills and build their confidence levels. The iPad, Kindle, and laptop will be used for accessing educational apps that are matched to the students' individual interests and needs

Emerging my students in the world of technology will change the way they approach learning.

Diverse lessons will help keep students interested through tailored, hands-on activities. With the grant, the entire world will be in reach of these children, many of whom have never left their hometown.
