My Students

The web helps capture my students imaginations, by providing us with a wealth of resources, from online historical websites to Google Art Project. We need a new, powerful laptop and protective gear to be able to utilize these resources as we explore our world.

This school has been a great success for our students, grades 6-12.

They learn so much from each other's diverse backgrounds, but we lag in technology resources! This is a magnet school, and very socioeconomically and ethnically diverse. It was founded largely due to address the resegregation of schools with the end of court ordered busing.

My Project

Help us explore our world via online technology with a new, powerful laptop, and protective gear, so we can access PowerPoint, Google Art Project (where the world's museums share their collections), and much more! There are so many great historical websites and resources that we would like to utilize, and a new working classroom laptop will help us explore! For example, we can explore the inside of caves in Lascaux, France as we take a virtual tour and view cave paintings up close. We can utilize the PBS website together, where there are many wonderful documentaries. We can examine primary sources and documents together using our computer and the overhead projector.

Our school is a wonderful microcosm of students with a thirst for knowledge.

From researching the life and times of Romans, to the great empires of China, Japan, West Africa, the Americas, Europe, and more, students will love having more technological resources at their fingertips, and a new laptop and protective gear will greatly help us with this!
