Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Imagine coming to work every day and knowing you are making a difference in someone's life. My students depend on me for their growth in knowledge. They greet me eager to learn and grow with me. However, due to the Corona Virus Pandemic, my students are very low. Half of my class are retainees from last year. My other half already came in 2 or more grade levels below 3rd-grade level. Most of them were virtual students from last year.

This year the students and I have a lot of work trying to get them on a 3rd-grade level.

They all come from low-income homes. They come from homes that mostly speak Spanish.

My Project

Since many of my incoming students simply do not have the economic advantages that allow them to have a personal device that is up to date with the increasing demands of technology in the classroom, having these laptops available in class will alleviate some potential frustrations that my students may encounter during the school year because of digital and social-economic inequalities that they face. The laptops will be available for differentiated instruction and during free time for them to catch up with their iReady and Reading Horizon applications. Thank you.
