Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, educating students with intellectual disabilities and students on the Autism spectrum. I have eight terrific, eager-to-learn students, who show such great enthusiasm to learn each day. They need various types of supports to learn new skills in school including visual, auditory and tangible supports. The use of devices in the classroom are helpful and useful for visual learning, reading, drawing and watching differentiated videos. With the requested materials, my students will have individual access to apps specifically created for students with disabilities. The use of technology in the classroom helps to promote greater independence, less anxiety and improved connection with their classmates. In addition, the technology will create a more comfortable learning environment, as well as increase academic performance!
