Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my "classroom" consists of finding multiple places to provide ENL (English as a New Language) push in and pull out services. Because of the number of students and the residence of a second school on one of our floors, space is limited. Most places where we learn we do not have the technology.

My school is located in the South Bronx.

The community as a whole consists of underprivileged children surrounded by poverty. Simply amazing, is the best way to describe my students. My students have a varying range of language development. No matter what phase or how much language they have, they are consistently trying their best to learn and gain as much as they possibly can. No matter what struggle they are facing at home, they always come to me willing to try and more importantly wanting to learn as much as they can.

My Project

These materials will help my students gain a better understanding of the lesson being taught by allowing them to have a visual representation. Students will be able to manipulate lesson charts and books in order to gain an understanding of the lesson being taught. Students will also be able to use applications and other technological manipulative's to push their learning and understanding further. My students will use this to help them in learning English.

Although my school is now a community school and the classrooms have received grants for technology and other supplies, English language learners tend to get the short end of the stick.

Although they do have access to these materials in their regular classroom, when they come for pull out services that focus only on language development, technology is lacking. With the ipad students will have access to language in multiple forms.
