My Students

My students are unique, loving, and intelligent 3rd to 5th-grade individuals from low-income communities within South Los Angeles. They bus in to school every morning ready to learn and work hard.

My students are students with Emotional Disturbances (ED).

They have experienced unimaginable challenges and continue to challenge themselves to overcome them. In our classroom, we continue to work on their behavior and social skills, so that they can be seen as the unique, loving, and intelligent individuals that they are.

My Project

In a low-income school, coming across technology is difficult. With students spending time in both general education and special education classrooms, we have a difficult time making it to their allotted computer lab time. Therefore, their experience with technology is limited to video games outside the classroom.

With standardized testing being on computers, it is essential that my students in the Emotional Disturbance program have access to technology.

It is necessary that they have safe access to a technology-friendly world and opportunities to explore learning in a different way. With these Chromebooks, I would be able to teach my students safe ways to use technology and to learn from this resourceful tool.
