Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire" William Butler Yeats. It is my philosophy that every child can learn and it is up to the teacher to guide them on this journey to success! Students deserve the best education possible with all they need at their fingertips. My students are a dynamic group of middle school kids with mixed abilities that cannot get enough of reading, writing and completing projects.

My school is a Title I school in Miami-Dade County.

My students socioeconomic status ranges from lower to middle class. Many of them do not have access to technology at home. Some of them participate in the Cambridge Program while others are in my Inclusion Class (a class of students with mixed abilities ranging from ADHD to specific learning disabilities). While each class is unique, they all need help in accomplishing their projects and goals through financial means. This grant is my initiative to provide students access to technology so they may succeed in school.

My Project

This year, I have many students who do not have access to technology at home. With these laptops and flash drives to save their work, my students will be able to do their homework, classwork and research projects that they would not have been able to do otherwise and save it for future uses. Students will have access to these laptops and USB flash drives before, during and after school in order to provide adequate time for everyone.

This project makes a difference because it will help all my students access technology to earn higher grades than before.

Students should not miss an opportunity to earn better grades because they do not have the materials necessary at home. Having laptops in conjunction with flash drives in my classroom will make a positive impact on my students' grades and attitude. They will have the tools necessary to succeed beyond their beliefs.
