Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a group of 36 wonderfully bright and happy children. They are in an inclusion classroom, which means some of my students have an individualized education plan. Some of my special needs students are identified as developmentally delayed, speech impaired, and learning disabled. They require a lot assistance to learn and to complete activities. Some need assistance with gross motor and fine motor skills such as hand under hand for writing activities. Others students in my classroom are very eager to learn and are able to make big academic gains but are economically disadvantaged and are not able to experience many extracurricular activities which in turn affects their background knowledge for some academic activities. They are all wonderful and my superstars. They love music, painting, dancing and most things in color and interactive.

My Project

Our classroom has a limited amount of computers which does not make it easy for all students to access technology during the school day. There are many academic programs and applications that benefit student learning. All students should have access to those programs. My students are also in need of a classroom carpet, which would give them an area to read books and use the iPad.

Providing an environment where students feel motivated to learn and have the tools needed to do so is very important to me.

I look forward to being able to give my students the most I possibly can so in return they strive to make great learning gains.
