Technology and Supplies for Enhancing Student Learning

Help me give my students better access to educational technology. An iPad to manage the students working on tablets, a microphone to amplify my voice, headphones to replace broken ones and other tools will enhance student learning.

My Project

I teach a very active and curious group of diverse first grade students. They love working on tablets to practice skills, learn new things, and create. My project will help me to utilize technology more frequently and authentically in the classroom. A teacher iPad to monitor student work will enable me to quickly intervene with struggling students, redirect students who get distracted, add programs all at once to students' tablets, and perform maintenance tasks more efficiently. Headphones that work will reduce noise and distractions, cables to effectively charge, a microphone to create and for students to hear the instructor are just a few things to help meet the goal of including technology. Reducing barriers to effective use of technology in the classroom and integrating technology into current curriculum are goals of this project.

Regular access to technology engages and encourages student learning and provides opportunities for deeper and more personalized learning.

Some of our programs provide individualized practice in both reading and math. Using the reusable pockets to reinforce the learning allows students to make mistakes and practice until they have mastery. The cardstock will allow me to create sturdy practice materials and the TPT gift cards give me access to new resources that correlate with the curriculum. Our reading program has many different online games that reinforce the phonics skills of students, and it is a great incentive for students to complete their paper and pencil work to get to “play games”. All of this can be done when the tablets we currently have access to are utilized more regularly. Making learning fun is a powerful motivator!
