My Students

My 2nd grade students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds with over 60% of them receiving free or reduced price lunch. Many of my students come to school with extra home challenges that sometimes hinder their ability to focus and learn.

I strive to reach each student at their achievement level.

The achievement levels in my class range from end of kindergarten to 3rd grade. Despite these challenges, I make learning fun and engaging.

I cannot control what happens at home, but I can control the learning environment at school. I can be the smile and loving person they need at school to push them to grow. My goal is to inspire my students through meaningful tasks that meet the needs of all learners!

My Project

Technology isn't going away so why not equip our students with the skills they need to be successful in the 21st century? Students will use the iPads and headphones to enhance their learning. Not only will they use apps that meet them where they are in their learning, but they will use apps to create projects! They will collaborate with each other to retell a story using the Sock Puppets app. The splitter and lapel microphones will help them be heard while working together. Students can become authors by writing a story and creating a digital book! Through Screen Chomp, an interactive white board app, they can record and show what they know on a map, for example, as an assessment. I can use Nearpod to bring the classroom to life with interactive mobile presentations! Nearpod and differentiated apps need headphones so as not to disrupt others.

Giving low-income students access to new technology is an investment in their future.

Students will learn 21st Century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking by applying what they've learned in a unique way. They will be able to take these skills and knowledge with them to improve their lives!
