Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is comprised of a group of amazing students who are all identified with autism.

With the autistic spectrum creating a broad spectrum of abilities cognitively and behaviorally, we have many different strategies to have the students working towards their highest potential.

Among my students, some are also identified with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Intellectual Disabilities, a traumatic brain injury and Speech and Language Impairments. Half of the students receive ESOL services, along with one student being nonverbal. All students receive speech and occupational therapy services.

These students love to explore new things, hear new stories, and be involved with their school events!

My Project

Both autistic support classrooms have been given iPads that the students will have access to use. However, they need cases that will protect them so they can use them independently (like any child!). This will make the iPads much more accessible for the student as well as protect them in the years to come in the classroom.

Every student at Central Elementary utilities online programs to assist their academic progress such as Dreambox, Lexia, ThinkCentral, and we want our students to be a part of it.

While cases may seem like a small necessity, it would make a huge difference in our student's independence. Our students move around more than what how you might picture a child sitting at the table using the iPad and these cases with extra protection will give them the ability to show what they know on their own!
