Help Ms. Ramsey

I am a first grade teacher in a very high need community in West Virginia. Our school is a very rural older one that is some what left out a lot due to its location. It is out in the boonies. Our students come from families with very low social economic status. These kids are so deserving because they need the experiences at school that they cannot get at home.

My classroom has three computers that are very out of date. They are so slow that my students are not able to do the fun creative activities that I would let them do if we only had 3 computers that work. They can't even take accelerated reader tests on them because they are too slow. They only work half of the time.

I think that it would be great to have three laptop computers to save space and also so my students could use the computers anywhere in the classroom. I could even use them for small group activities. My students are wonderful typists , and I love letting them type stories and this would be a great way to complete those. They get so excited when they can use the computers. It makes me upset that we cannot use them more.

Your help will really ensure that my students learn how to properly use technology because in this world if you don't know how to do those things you are somewhat left behind. My students would be so appreciative and excited they wouldn't know what to do with themselves.
