This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello, my name is Ms. Shafer, and I'm pretty sure I have some of the best students in whole world. Ever since student teaching with these kids, I have been ready to get back to them. This year, as a second year teacher, I made it back to my campus. I even got to have my fourth graders from student teaching as sixth graders this year.

We are developing world changers, and I could not be more excited.

My students are independent thinkers. They are team players. They think about others before they think about themselves. They wonder how their actions impact the environment and those around them.

I get to be with my students from fourth through sixth grades as a public Montessori campus. I see them develop from sentence writers into authors. I see them go from timid followers to confident leaders. I love getting to see these students develop into the community members I know they can be. I am never disappointed.

My Project

As of last April, we are brand new to the world of one to one technology. I am so excited about all of the doors this will open for my students, but we realized we had a problem.

I realized how many of my students are noise sensitive once we had digital voices echoing around the room!

Have you ever heard 23 pieces of technology all speaking at the same time? I couldn't blame them. I felt awful that I could not allow them all to take advantage of their technology and keep them focused at the same time. These headphones will do wonders for the student focus in my room.
