My Students

Technology is an increasingly important element in the daily lives of people worldwide. With endless opportunities for the use of a tablet in the classroom, students will be able to interact with their learning rather than be passive learners.

My students rarely hear a native English-speaker's voice other than my own.

The addition of a learner-responsive tool in my English as a Second Language classroom would benefit every student in their personal language growth. An interactive tool in an elementary school setting sparks excitement for discovery. We are a Title 1 school, which means that my children nearly all of my learners are currently living below the poverty line. My students do not have access to technological resources at home or in the classroom (we have computer class once a week!) My students need to build this essential knowledge in order to access a lifetime of learning.

My Project

We are requesting a Microsoft Surface tablet. Students respond to visual media in a way that genuinely engages their curiosity and encourages them to research independently. I hope that my students can become lifetime learners who have an authentic passion for knowledge. Students feel empowered when they learn and create, and I hope that my students feel invested in their own learning by using this product. I'm requesting a Microsoft Surface Tablet for my classroom to be used at our 3 learning stations: a mathematics center, a writing center, and a word work center. With this resource, I hope that I can truly differentiate to my range of learners in the classroom.

With this tablet, students would be able to research writing projects and topics that would have previously been unavailable.

The interactive software would allow students to have a system respond to their mathematical abilities and create challenging work appropriate for their learning. A resource like the Microsoft Tablet would be an incredible addition to students' learning. Please consider donating to my classroom in order to encourage students to become autonomous discoverers of knowledge.
