My Students

"If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow." One of my biggest challenges as a teacher is preparing students for the future when I don't know what the future holds. One thing I know for certain is that my students will need to be able to use technology effectively.

There are 26 students in my third grade classroom.

They are eager learners who come from various backgrounds and require different instruction to meet their needs. They all have one thing in common ...they LOVE technology. Most students don't realize how much they're actually learning or practicing a skill when they're utilizing the computer or an iPad. Our school is located in a suburban area with many students on free and reduced price lunch. We are a "Leader in Me" school that empowers students to be leaders in the 21st century.

My Project

Having an iPad in the classroom will allow me to meet the needs of every student in my classroom whether they are struggling, on grade level, or need enrichment. It will allow them to research, create presentations, practice what they're learning through different apps, and much more. Students are engaged and focused when working with technology because it's exciting and fun. An iPad would help them work at their own pace with resources targeted for their specific academic level.

Having an iPad in the classroom will provide all of my students with the opportunity to become familiar with technology, regardless whether they have access to it at home or not.

They will be able to practice and apply what they're learning in a fun and engaging way!
