This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are a curious, fun, and motivated group of second graders! It is a small, bilingual Spanish, special education class (12:1), comprised of students with different learning needs, including speech and language impairment, autism, and sensory deficits. They love participating in classroom lessons but need visual support and tactile tools daily in order to do so. Our school is located in a low-income, high-need community. One hundred percent of our students receive free lunch. My students need a lot of support and differentiation of lessons in order to access grade level curriculum and make progress. The new laptop will allow me to quickly access content online and project them on the classroom Promethean board. This includes lesson slides that I have prepared in Google Slides, differentiation materials that I have saved in Google Drive, Fundations online resources for phonics instruction, math lessons and curriculum materials from enVisionsMath, books for shared reading, and videos to provide visual supports for new concepts we are learning.
