My Students

Save our crushed legs! Currently, the computers in my classroom are placed on tables meant for kindergarten students. I have many older students who cannot sit comfortably and work at them. We need a new computer center so they can comfortably complete valuable computer-based learning activities.

My students are first through fifth graders in a high needs public school in NY.

My students have special needs, and struggle academically. I am the resource room teacher, and I bring students to my room five days per week for 45 minutes each day to help them improve their reading, writing, and math. They are highly motivated despite their learning struggles, and they love using technology to learn. They are creative and energetic and they inspire me on a daily basis!

My Project

I am requesting a computer station that will hold the two computers in my classroom. Currently, the computers sit on two tiny tables meant for kindergarten students. Thus, my third, fourth, and fifth graders can barely fit at these tables, and have to smush their legs underneath the tables in order to fit. In addition, the current tables that the computers are on are not very sturdy, and wobble when the computer is being used. For safety and comfort, we need a new computer station in my classroom! There are so many computer based learning activities and intervention programs that my students would benefit from if they were able to sit comfortably at the computers for long periods of time!

It will allow me to fully incorporate more computer based learning activities into my classroom, and it will allow students to have fun, using the computer to learn. In turn, my students will be more excited about learning, confident in their abilities, and academically successful!
