My Students
We love technology! My students are excited about the opportunity to use technology for learning. Many of my students do not have access to technology at home. My students need an iPad Mini to allow them to access technology to play games that will teach them important reading and math skills.
Many of my students don't have Internet access at home.
In fact, some of them don't even have a computer they can use for learning, research, or fun. I teach in a Title 1 school, and many of my students do not come to school with the basic supplies they need for learning, such as crayons, pencils, and notebooks. For many of them, the structure of the school day and the consistency of a classroom is a safe haven. I work very hard to create fun, engaging lessons that will keep my kindergarteners eager to learn new things each day. These students love the opportunity to use technology for learning. They are engaged in a way that a paper and pencil will never engage them, and they are learning at the same time. Having an iPad in our classroom can open up new worlds for my students that they would have never been exposed to otherwise. The Touchtronic letters are an awesome tool that will help my students learn their letters, numbers, and sounds. The opportunities for learning are endless.
My Project
I would like to receive an iPad Mini and Touchtronic letters and numbers for my classroom. My students can use it to play educational games and use educational apps. We have computers in our classroom, but they are old and outdated. The iPad will allow the more students access to technology. There are so many apps available for Kindergarteners that will allow them to practice phonics skills, math problems, or reading. If a student completes an assignment, they could further practice those skills using an iPad app. Struggling students can use an app to practice math facts or sight words. The students can access information using the QR code reader or take pictures of items found in our outdoor classroom. The possibilities are endless! The iPad is small and lightweight, so they can be easily stored in the classroom. Students can take the iPad to their table to work, or they can hold them comfortably in their hands. The iPad will offer my students flexibility and engagement.
We are now a world that is driven by technology.
We communicate with our friends and family via technology. Bills are paid and purchases are made on phones and tablets. My students have limited access to technology at home, so it is my job to ensure they have the skills they need to succeed in a technology-driven world. By making an iPad available to them in the classroom, they will be learning important educational skills that will impact their learning for years to come!
