This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are inquisitive, eager young learners from the Bushwick area of Brooklyn. Ranging from 6 to 7 years old, they are natives of the Caribbean Islands, Central America, and South America. My students have a pulsating thirst for gaining new skills and knowledge. They put 101% effort into all of their work, even when confronted with obstacles. This is my second year teaching the majority of them and with only 3 months into the school year, they have impressed me by how much they’ve grown!

My Project

A set of six new tablets will increase daily technology use in my classroom. My students come from low income households and do not have access to computers or tablets at home. Although, they have some access to laptops at school, these experiences are often cut short due to glitches and malfunction. It is important for them to gain technology aptitude and maintain academic learning by reinforcing skills in new and challenging ways. Using technology independently will prepare my students for 21st Century opportunities. Tablets are low-maintence, kid-friendly, and easy to use. We will use math and literacy apps on the tablets. Students will be able to safely navigate through online resources and research topics they are learning. Help me students achieve greatness with a little tech support!
