This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi there! I am a School Social Worker in a Middle School located in the Bronx. Students at my school are ambitious, eager and determined but face many economic limitations. Despite having limited resources, my students have made great strides to persevere since the beginning of COVID-19.

Our dedicated scholars have demonstrated the true definition of resilience during this pandemic by sharing devices with their siblings; going to libraries to use their computers; using a cellphone or calling into their online class sessions, but some are now reaching a plateau as these options are no longer available.

These students are primarily students in temporary housing where many of the residences do not have WiFi capabilities.

My Project

Many of my students do not have access to the internet at home and are relying on our school to help them get the support that they need.

Now more than ever, a WiFi embedded iPad is essential to my students' academic success and social emotional learning.

Having this device will not only permit students to join and actively engage in their online classes, it will also provide them with the opportunity to continue developing socially and emotionally through their interactions with teachers and peers.

Time is of the essence, and each day that one of my students' goes without a device, they are slowly losing confidence in their ability to succeed.
