Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 32 students come from working class families. Most are Title I Low- Income families. At least 7 are from immigrant families.

Nine of them do not currently have devices at home they can use.

Three of them do not have access to internet. Five of them have computers that are to old to them very much good.

All are high academic achievement students who are the top of their class. They have earned placement in a School for Advanced Studies Program that requires technology integration.

My Project

My students are part of a School for Advanced Studies (SAS) program. They have earned the right to be in the program demonstrating academic achievement. Now that they are in the program they struggle with accessing the technology to come out ahead and experience what SAS students in more affluent communities have.

As I implement an online classroom for the class, I would like to have them work on projects that are accessible to all my students through after school and weekend check out the Chromebooks I have requested.

They would be able to work on collaborative projects that put their skills to work on real life projects like a school newsletter and learning bulletins for their school.

They would be able to create their own websites with a personal portfolio the begins to summarize their academic achievements and aspirations.

They have achieved academically, it would be a shame to let lack of technology keep them from achieving more.
