My Students

The students I serve each day come to our school facing a variety of challenges. Living in the most dangerous section of our capital city, these children have been faced with hardships in their eight years that many could not imagine in a lifetime.

"Education is the most powerful which you can use to change the world" Nelson Mandela.

This quote perfectly describes my efforts as I push my students to persevere through their challenges, to the success that lies ahead of them.

My Project

The given materials in this project exemplify the disparity that currently exists in our public education. Though students are expected to perform in a 21st century world, they are often not given the access to these tools while in school.

This project helps to bridge the gap that exists between expectation and reality when it comes to access to technology.

The students from one of the most under performing schools in the District of Columbia, will now be able to compete on a global scale with the help of these resources. More specifically, each of these students is a child with disabilities, creating an even greater sense of urgency around these resources. A projector will serve to allow students to access the world from a broader view. Students will also be able to interact with the technology through the use new innovative tools also listed in the project. Supplemental items in the project will cover the organization and set up for the new year, including tools that will help to give scholars better access to the world in which they live. Since all students who benefit from these products have been diagnosed with a disability, these products are also essential to making learning engaging, differentiated, and interactive!
