My Project

About Our Project: Bridging the Digital Divide Through Coding & Technology

My students are resilient, curious, and full of potential, yet they face significant challenges due to limited access to technology.

They attend a Title I school in the Bronx, where many come from low-income households and do not have personal devices at home. Despite these obstacles, they are eager to learn, grow, and seize new opportunities—if only they had the tools to do so.

These laptops will allow my students to access the digital learning tools they need to thrive. Right now, students must share devices or wait their turn, limiting their ability to fully engage with programs like i-Ready, Google Classroom, and Khan Academy, which have already helped them grow 169% in math and 119% in reading this year​

. With individual access to Lenovo 300W Gen 3 laptops, my students can practice foundational skills, complete digital assignments, and receive personalized instruction tailored to their learning needs.

Beyond supporting their core subjects, these laptops will launch our first-ever Coding & Tech Club. As a former coding teacher in Portugal and an Apple Distinguished Educator, I want to introduce my students to Scratch, Python, and hands-on programming activities—building problem-solving and digital literacy skills that will open doors to future opportunities. Many of my students have never had access to coding education, and this project will give them a world-class start in technology and STEM learning.
