Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our special needs population here in Bushwick, NY is inquistive, creative, and a lot of fun! We service students presenting with learning disabilities, autism, and expressive and receptive language disorders. Our kids require a lot of support but we love our jobs! This multicultural student body enjoys participating in online activities that are highly engaging and interactive. That's why we are seeking funding to purchase an iPad that can be facilitated in speech therapy sessions with our students.

My Project

COVID has presented many obstacles to student learning. In order to teach our students effectively, all teachers now need to employ digital platforms. Unforunately, schools lack the funding to provide the proper technology for access to these platforms. The DOE has provided desktops computers that have no microphones or video cameras. This greatly prohibits our ability to deliver speech and language therapy services. Having an iPad will help us therapists utilize the same digital platforms classroom teachers are using remotely to service students.

Access to iPad ensures there will be no disruptions in service to students with special needs.
