My Students

Creativity, imagination, problem solving and collaboration are key components to authentic learning in our classroom. I have high expectations for every student. It is my responsibility to provide a variety of learning opportunities to help each child meet or exceed their goals. Our school is a K-2 school with approximately 1,100 children enrolled.

We have a diverse population of ethnic backgrounds, a growing ELL population, a high percentage of students who need accelerated learning opportunities, and students who need reading and math interventions to help them establish a firm foundation for successful learning.

My Project

Our school recently purchased a MacBook Pro teacher computer for our class. Unfortunately, the new models don't include a dvd/cd player. We have various educational dvds to use as part of our required curriculum, and now I am unable to use them for instruction. I also have multiple cds with teacher- and student-created flipcharts, Powerpoint presentations and other projects. Without a dvd/cd player, we can't access these documents.

We are in need of a document camera so I can model student expectations for work quality in all subject areas, allow students to share their work and provide a visual source to teach & display activities during whole group instruction and lessons.

The students' learning will improve with these much needed technology pieces.
