My Students

My students are just turning five. Currently, we are distance learning. For many of them, this is their first experience in a school setting, and it is anything but typical! Some of the students have special learning needs, and many are learning English for the first time. The majority of their families live below the poverty line and rely on our free meal plan for their children's breakfast and lunch. The parents are very supportive, and they enjoy spending time with their little ones, reading stories, and learning new things. We are a very diverse community, with over 20 languages spoken.

Our school is a high-poverty Title I school with high expectations for all.

Each day we practice letters, phonics, and sight words. We study science and math. Distance learning during the pandemic consists of live, online instruction on Zoom and using iPad apps and websites. This is very difficult for four-year-olds who can’t even sit through a movie!

My Project

I am requesting a variety of items in this project, such as accessories to charge our iPads. I am also requesting an iPad case to replace an old one that is frayed and beginning to fall apart. These items will allow us to continue using our iPads in the future.

We are also requesting water to keep us hydrated, as well as cookies to keep children motivated and awake during class.

Our supply of Scotch tape is also starting to run low, and it would be great to have a some to help make student materials for lessons.

We have been learning remotely all year, and some students will soon be back in the classroom. However, we will continue to utilize technology and online resources for learning. Your help will be greatly appreciated!
