Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students come from all over the world, and come with all sorts of needs - a day in their lives involves our office full of students speaking all different languages with all sorts of different needs. We do our best to support them with technology and supplies, but we both need help!

Our students come from over 40 different countries and speak as many different languages.

All our students arrived in the United States within the last 4 years, and range from the ages of 13 to 21. Many have had interrupted formal education and some have made the migration journey on foot. They all come with rich backgrounds full of struggle and perseverance, and we together are committed to their academic achievement and life advancement.

My Project

Many of our students do not have technological resources at home to complete homework and project work - without completion, students can't adequately learn or graduate. With Chromebooks and chargers we can be deliberate with lending these tech resources to support their education in spaces that need supplementing. Many students also come from very low socioeconomic statuses and families sometimes can not afford to feed them regularly, and we seek to supplement their well being with snacks - it's not much, but it's something, and the students need and appreciate it.

These donations will make all the difference.

Students will be able to have access to the internet where they once had no chance at working on homework. Students will not have to go hungry. We know it would mean the world to them for these donations to come through, and to know that there are people out there rooting for them and supporting them, and that knowledge is invaluable.
