My Project

Learning doesn't stop outside of the classroom! My students are energetic, active, and most are gifted. Gifted students can struggle with feelings of justice and fairness, so learning how to be a good sport, play together and solve disagreements are IMPORTANT! They are at an age where social skills, emotions and energy are colliding and learning to solve social issues helps keep recess issues outside and our time inside the classroom can be more focused. This playground equipment will support our social emotional learning groups, encourage physical and healthy choices and foster friendships in areas outside of academics! The paper will be placed with existing art supplies to make a portable art station for my more introverted students in hopes that those students who choose quieter recess activities will still develop closer friendships with classmates. All of these activities will ideally foster feelings of a stronger classroom community, build upon our character and social emotional learning and spend more classtime on academic learning!
