My Students

Seven years ago I moved to Nashville, Tennessee with little to no knowledge of the demographics or population. I quickly learned that Nashville is immensely diverse and I am fortunate to teach at a school that represents over twenty countries and five languages.

Our students are all threads to a beautifully woven tapestry honoring their Somali, Egyptian, Hispanic, and European cultures.

They are tenacious, fearless, and curious learners but above all, they are the best teachers I could ask for.

My Project

Our students all rotate to a computer lab space daily. Here they work on personalized learning goals and engage in small group instruction.

As one can imagine 5 classes in one space can be a lot so teachers rely on non-verbals to communicate directions and reinforce positive behavior.

Right now, 3 of the 5 teachers have a TV to display student goals and directions. Having a screen for each teacher would elevate the space so students can be more productive in their work and give teachers more consistency during their classes.
