My Students

Many of my students come to me from a subsidized housing complex. These students often do not have the home support they need to be successful. Therefore, I try to build them up as much as possible. I try and give them the materials they need to work independently. And most of all, show them they can be proud of their accomplishments.

I have found that students need a variety of ways to learn.

They are energetic, creative, and love to learn. They need to get up and move and learn from a variety of outlets. Children these days are exposed to technology early on and gravitate to this form of learning. Let's face it, textbooks are just not that engaging anymore!

My Project

An iPad can increase math, science, reading, and writing engagement!

The students can practice his/her math facts in a fun way. An iPad can bring a story or the child's writing to life. We can use apps like Epic (books), Chatterbox (writing), Letter School (cursive writing), and Audio Boom (oral reading to build fluency). Technology can build necessary skills for the future. Please consider donating to our project--the students and I will be forever grateful!
