My Students

We are at a Title I school with a very high percentage of students and families living in low income homes. Most of my students are English Language Learners. While poverty and language can present barriers for students, we are learning not to let our challenges get in the way of education.

In addition, distance learning through the pandemic has posed another barrier towards their learning.

As their teacher, it is my job to make sure that they learn, despite the virtual setting we have been faced with. I want to create excitement in their daily routines at home, in order to make their school experience fun and worthwhile.

My Project

As I envision how I will start the new school year, teaching virtually, I am thinking about the different ways I can catch my students' attention.

Thematic storytelling will be my hook!

I will engage my students through stories, using the felt board with felt story characters. I will also include music and movement, which the CD Player with bluetooth is great for.

The table top easel will serve as my tool for teaching them their alphabet and numbers, as well as other concepts.

These materials will aide in helping my students learn, using different modalities.
