This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am currently teaching at a school that was displaced for two years due to flooding in Louisiana. This was very difficult for the students because not only did they lose their safe learning environment, but many lost their homes as well. My students have so much potential, and I strive to provide them with everything they need in order to succeed! Through my experience, teaching is much easier and the students show more growth when necessary materials are available for use in our classroom. Unfortunately, I cannot always provide the necessary materials.

My Project

Teaching is more that standing in front of a class and telling them what they need to do in order to learn the material. Teaching is guiding the students in the right direction and modeling for the students what is needed in order for them to be successful. Having a document camera in my classroom would make this extremely easy. For example, I would be able to model how their Math Journals should be set up and organized, how to solve certain math word problems, and what corrections would be needed in order to have a perfect test.

My students would also be able to display their wonderful work for their classmates.

This will allow students to be confident in their work as well as allow the other students to see work created by someone their own age. This will give them the confidence that they are capable of producing amazing work as well!

Having ink for our classroom printer will also allow us to be able to display the student's work for others to see. We will also be able to print out mini anchor charts for the reference pages of their journals and print out math centers that will be used daily.
