it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am reaching out to seek donations for the purchase of the graphic novel "Speak" for our health class. This powerful book addresses significant themes such as trauma, mental health, and the importance of self-expression. Its engaging illustrations and relatable narrative make it an excellent tool for igniting discussions about vital issues affecting our students today. By introducing "Speak" into our curriculum, we aim to create an inclusive environment that encourages empathy and understanding among students. Your generous contributions will help us provide this vital resource, fostering conversations that empower our students to navigate their mental health journeys.
Unfortunately it is no longer carried as part of LAUSD so the district will not directly purchase or send us the books I currently have just under two class sets.
I teach roughly 70 students in Health each semester. My principal is attempting to come up with funds to purchase me some copies. I would like to have just 20 copies purchased as donations if possible, because kids always lose things or never return to school etc.
