My Students

My students are eager 8th graders ready to get back to hands on learning. The past couple years have been inconsistent and hands on learning was not an option for these rockstars!

Through scientific inquiry and investigations, students will be exploring the world of science with tangible engaging projects this year.

Seeing their enthusiasm for experiments and labs so far this year has been a breath of fresh air! The resilience they show to the adversity around them is absolutely inspiring.

My Project

Having finally returned to the classroom after over a year of remote and hybrid teaching, one of my main goals is to foster social and emotional learning amongst my students. As a science teacher, there is no better way for me to do that than with my class pet, Coco, a bearded dragon, who my students have come to know and love. Coco is ready to move onto a bigger and better enclosure where the students themselves will also be able to take more responsibility for caring for her. Having a larger enclosure will allow students to work together to change the food, take the temperature of the space and learn about ecology. My hope is that through this project Coco can be more at home in her space, in order to promote respect, responsibility, and empathy in my classroom.
