My Students

Last week, one of my students asked me where to recycle her paper and I realized we didn't have a recycling bin. They suggested that we get one and start collecting recycling from the other classes as well. We are looking for materials to learn more about recycling and start our recycling project.

My students are a diverse group of fourth graders in a low income area of Michigan.

They are a caring group of students who want to succeed and work hard. They attend a K-5 school, so they are working on being role models for the other students in the school.

My Project

The resources I am requesting are a set of magazines about Conservation, books for our library to teach students about conservation, and a subscription to a science magazine to continue my students interest in science to teach them the importance of doing things to protect our planet. I have also requested recycling bins for the classrooms, so there is a permanent place for students to put their recycled paper. Right now, we have bins that are falling apart and are not very noticeable. With the help of the Disney Planet Challenge and your generous donations, the students can continue to make the Earth a more "green" place.

My students are some of the older students at the school and I have been talking to them about the importance of being good role models to the younger students in the school, both by their behavior and their actions.

I would like them to have a positive influence on other students in our school by setting up and promoting a recycling program in our school.
