My Students

My students are creative, curious, and caring. I love that the best part of my job is watching students grow in their academics but also within life. These students have found ways to preserve through a very challenging time during the pandemic. They have proven their strength and courage to continue to push through and grow. They have asked questions when they needed support, they have helped one another when they saw a peer in need, and they have allowed staff members grace as we have worked through the challenges we have never faced before. The best part of teaching is truly seeing the kids become all that they can be and helping them get there. Becoming a "family" is why I love what I do.

My Project

I am excited about some of the ideas I am hoping to implement to help my students build their reading fluency and comprehension. Our second-grade students have not had a typical school year since they have started school. The pandemic has influenced teaching and learning in many ways. I would love to bring these new tools into the classroom to help build my students' confidence in reading. These listening tools and fluency and comprehension cards will allow me to zone in on the areas our second graders have had difficulty with, often due to their experience in their pandemic-influenced schooling years. Thank you for considering our project.
