"You may encounter defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." Maya Angelou
Many of my students have emotional, behavioral, and/or academic difficulties.
Unfortunately, several of my students have had disrupted childhoods which has led to them being in and out of foster care and ultimately, residential placement. Even though they have experienced sometimes the unthinkable, they still have many great qualities about themselves and hope to be like typical teenagers.
My Project
Due to all the traumatic events in their lives, my students have delays in social skills. The iPad would be used to teach a virtual social/life skill curriculum. The lessons would consist of conversation skills, anger management/coping skills, body regulation, personal and living skills, community skills, and job skills.
The donation of the iPad would greatly improve the lives of the students.
By learning these life skills, it creates many opportunities and increases their chances of being successful in life.
