Teaching TPRS, or Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling is a language teaching method based on the idea that the brain needs enormous amounts of Comprehensible Input (CI) to acquire a new language. I introduced digital content to my class lessons because I noticed my students feel safe around their electronic devices since COVID-19 started. I began with short videos, audio, and digital assignments in the target language—The Somos Curriculum encourages natural output. Each SOMOS lesson sequence allows students to speak and write in low-risk, low-stakes settings, building their confidence without raising their affective filter, which provides to make better confident language learners.
